Homework, Labs, and Quizzes

• Homework will be assigned after each lecture, see HERE for the assignments. We do not plan to collect homework. But you are supposed to do them all. Remember: the more problems you do, the better you understand the material. The homework is not pledged. You are encouraged to discuss the problems. However, each student is responsible for the final preparation of his/her own homework papers.
• SageMath Labs will be assigned and graded by the TA.
• There will be weekly quizzes on Wednesday, at the end of each recitation session. The quiz problems will be either the same as, or very similar to those from the homework. Thus, if a student has made a good attempt at the homework, he/she should do well on the quiz. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped from the final grade calculation.

Exams

• There will be two gateways exams during the semester. These short 30-minute exams help you achieve mastery over basic calculus skills and assure you are prepared for future material.

• Gateway 1	Open August 28, close September 7th, two attempts allowed, passing score 7/10.
  Gateway 2	Open October 2nd, close October 13th, three attempts allowed, passing score 5/6.

• There will be two 75 minutes in-class midterm exams and a 150 minutes cumulative final exam. The tentative dates of the exams are listed as follows.

• Midterm 1	Tuesday, October 3rd, in class.
  Midterm 2	Tuesday, November 14th, in class.
  Final	Tuesday, December 12th, 9:00am - 11:30am.

• Exams are under the honor code. Be sure and hand in all the work you do on each problem. Good luck!

Grades

• Your grade is distributed as below:

• Quizzes »	20% (drop lowest)
  Computer Labs »	10%
  Midterms »	20% each
  Final exam »	30%

• You can monitor your grades via Blackboard.
• The letter grade will be mapped by: 90+ A; 86+ B+; 80+ B; 76+ C+; 70+ C; 66+ D+; 60+ D; 60- F.
• Failing each Gateway exam will result one letter grade panelty.
